What is Wisdom?

The biggest declaration is one that is made in your own very heart, your very being itself. It is a personal moment that whenever it is shared, it is lost and unless you are a mystic, you cannot afford to share it yet.

Bathe in the wisdom that you have discovered in your own being, meet it every day, spend quality time with it, get to know it more, unveil things that you never knew and make sure that you are convinced that this wisdom will never change and is of an eternal nature. Once you find this, then it is worth sharing. Then the more you share it, the more you realize it does not deplete.

What is wisdom? It is knowledge that becomes experience. It is eternal, changeless, transcending and in many ways it is beyond comprehension. When it is translated back to words, it loses a large part of it’s essence. Wisdom is not like strong winds that blows you away, it is that gentle breeze that swirls around you in a dance, it envelopes you and takes you to a place of meditation, a place of inner awareness, where there is stillness and you have been taken over by that wisdom.

Mysticism of the East have named this wisdom as Nirguna Brahman (The Formless Oneness without attributes) or Tat Tvam Asi (You are That). This is where all lofty thoughts, concepts and ideas come from. However, we must always separate them to Nirguna Brahman. To get to this point of clarity, to this indivisible state requires practice in meditation, and contemplation on one’s true self with the company of the wise. Serving others in a selfless manner can also bring one to that clarity. If one serves all as if serving Nirguna Brahman, many have reported attaining that Wisdom itself from performing selfless acts. Devotional acts have made people reach Nirguna Brahman too even though one may believe they are worshipping Saguna Brahman (the Formless One with attributes).

The fastest way to Nirguna Brahman is by seeking a teacher, a Guru of Truth. With their Grace, they reveal this wisdom in an instant. They may ask the seeker to purify themselves first by reading scriptures, sitting with wise company, meditating, volunteering etc. The Teacher, when they feel the seeker is ready, unveils the Highest Wisdom – Nirguna Brahman. From there, it is seen that Saguna Brahman is the manifested in the Guru of Truth and whenever the seeker finds it difficult to connect, they lead the seeker to Nirguna Brahman.

This is my experience and I find myself very fortunate to be able to behold nothing but Nirguna Brahman for periods of time. Even though, I do find it challenging to connect to Nirguna Brahman, I find that devotion, singing the praise of my Guru of Truth, my Saguna Brahman leads me to the Formless Indivisible Self that resides within me. In fact, I am always This but I am battling my mind/ego to accept it.

Pseudo-Wisdom

main-qimg-74fcc73afa096335a5b17255126c8d3c

It has been a long time since I have written on my blog and I will not lie but I have missed it. There is something about writing your thoughts every day and how it connects you to your own self. It’s quite an interesting way to introspect.

I have been spending time away from posting on social media too and I feel that now the likes of Instagram, Snapchat etc are more for businesses than individual content. Facebook still has it’s place as we find out news about our friends and family, or generally the political climate in our home country or abroad. However, Facebook is not something a 18 year or under runs towards now.

I have started to stay away from Instagram and I used to write poetry on their daily. Eventually, I found that the thoughts I expressed had lost it’s original voice and depth. A few may disagree but I really felt I wasn’t doing justice to the actual thoughts that I had.

I have noticed how individuals are trying to be content creators or influencers and as much as I applaud the efforts, I find that it is more narcisstic and definitely spreading more pseudo-wisdom than anything truly worth remembering. I often wonder would one find the Buddha or Lao Tzu or Krishna ever enjoying what they see on Instagram and the like? They would probably like to retreat to a cave and I must say that it may be the first time ever in my life where I find staying in a cave more interesting than going through the torture of social media.

However, I do find it funny and I do laugh at a lot of people’s attempts of being something special. It is a bit sad and I must add this, that some people on Instagram provide amazing content and it’s a little unfortunate that their talent that is screaming is being drowned by the mediocrity that has become the mainstream.

As I remain more of a spectator of social media than an active participant, it’s wonderful to find out good news on dear friends and family. It brings me a lot of joy when I see genuine happiness and that is what I really look for.

I certainly do not look for wisdom on Instagram and I must say that it is nearly impossible to find it anywhere on social media. I have resorted back to reading on my Kindle, reading about the deep hindu philosophy of advaita vedanta, reading poetry or works by great mystics and therefore increasing my concentration on focus.

In a world today that loses it’s attention span so quickly, I am doing the opposite. I am working on increasing it. This is obviously aided by meditation. Maybe this is why I see the frivolty of so-called influencers and content creators. The biggest question that they need to ask is am I going to be relevant a thousand years from now. If that is a stretch then 100 years from now? If not, then the few days of success will end up being a lifetime of failure. Which will only increase anxiety and possibly, mental illness because when someone loses relevancy, it hits really hard.

For years, I have thought about how to be relevant in today’s day and age. How can my poetry reach far? Then I remind myself of the above. My success lies in how long my work remains. Will it remain for a few years now as a fad or will it be something of an eternal nature. All I know is that I have a lot of work to do internally and on myself and that is what my focus is on.

As much as my discourse above has been based upon the state of social media from my perspective, I do appreciate the entertainment it provides even if they are trying to be serious. It is a little scary too and sometimes I have seen posts talk about mental health issues and the advice provided is not appropriate or even shows a little understanding of the actual issues that people go through. What needs to be understood that the shallowness of their thoughts or pseudo-wisdom cannot comprehend the issues that run deep in the human mind. In topics where professionals’ advice must be shared, others should either spread those professionals advice or not write about it at all.

There is a lot that I want to share with you. All that I share is what I know and whatever I feel helps, I will share that. I want to be authentic and honest and these are the basic values I strongly hold on to. As I grow in my spiritual practice, there is one thing that I am more transparent about and that is ineptness and I am quite vocal about the dangers of such matters. Being genuine and straightforward is better than sugar-coating. Although, my personal philsophy is to sugar-coat first and if someone still doesn’t get it, I just share what I feel in it’s less filtered state. After all, one has to respect the feelings of others even if their pseudo-wisdom will eventually do some harm.

At the moment, pseudo-wisdom is definitely winning and it is gaining huge popularity but the lack of real transformation will eventually lift the veil on the reality of the ‘wisdom’ that was once so inspiring. This is why I go back to the ancient folk because the Truth doesn’t belong to time and therefore, you can be in the world today and practice those pointers without worrying if it is relevant in a modern society. Being enlightened is transcendence and therefore trnascends all apparent limitations.

Anyway, this post was longer than I had anticipated and I just hope that whatever you are doing is the best for you. Keep it real. Keep it authentic. Keep it honest. May joy and happiness be with you in every step that you take.

Love.

Your Presence Prevails

10808bf51ff30249a8b83f13f7095d2fThe Guru dispels all darkness of the mind. The mind is in the delusion that it is the body with psychological impressions. The mind is given power by the soul and the soul is in the illusion that it is what the mind is. It takes on a different identity and leads a double life. This double life is the cause of disruption, stress and incredible ignorance that has loyalty towards the ego.

The only way the mind is free from the body and psychological impressions is simply by the elimination of the ego. When the ego is removed from the equation, the soul has access to the mind. When this happens, even for a split second and the Guru is present to give you the Eternal Wisdom then enlightenment can happen in a split second. A journey of bliss continues.

However, this is not the case for everyone and certainly not for me. I was given the Eternal Wisdom, also known as Brahm Gyan by my Guru while ‘my’ ego was running riot. The ego has most definitely calmed down as I transition into soul consciousness, which is god consciousness. However, my ego has put up a good fight and doesn’t look to be taking flight any time soon.

As I mentioned the Guru dispels all darkness of the mind, this is when one remembers the awareness of the Formless, this is the Eternal Wisdom. Understanding and having the realization that this Formless is everywhere and everything, the elements of compassion and acceptance are at the forefront of every decision, even every word.

The ego can put up a fight and the real YOU, that is Formless Awareness can watch all this happening. This is the clearest indicator to show that the ego doesn’t control you. If it did control you then it would incessantly control what you should be aware of. It does its best but in front of the Formless, it is weaker.

When you are in the awareness of the Formless, your ego slowly weakens. It is a gradual process. The only time it can speed up is when you have the physical darshan or receive a loving glance from the Guru. Even in that moment, you must be receptive to it, sensitive to it and open to it. If you are just going to meet the Guru without any intention to be transformed, then nothing will happen. A small urge to be transformed is required.

Spiritual complacency is what happens when we feel the glance (darshan) of the Guru has taken out the ego forever. The Guru never promises this, the disciple somehow falls under this subtle but devastating delusion. The ego and it’s influence has only weakened, not necessarily destroyed. It is reminding yourself of this glance, contemplating upon it, being aware of the Formless that is within everything, only then is the ego on the fast-track to be transcended as you take the flight into the beingness of the Formless.
This is what liberation is. This is what my Guru described to me and I am trying to live in this.

Without Him being here physically, I am fortunate to have had atleast 10 of those darshans, those glances that pierced through my ego, weakening it to the point that only a little bit is required to destroy it once and for all. Then Formless consciousness will be my way of life, it will be my life.

However, with His physical absence, my ego got a little stronger. It thought that my spiritual journey will come to a halt, it would be finished. I would stop having faith, I would stop having the desire to become enlightened as the ego believes that I have to become enlightened, it doesn’t know that I am enlightened. However, I know this intellectually, but experientially I am not there yet.

The ego thinks it is winning and I am here to tell it that Baba ji is more alive than ever! The darshans He blessed me with, those glances are not forgotten. They are with me always. 2 years on, they are stronger than ever. Why? I cannot allow His positive efforts, His precious time that He blessed the Earth with, go to absolute waste.

Baba Ji was the most beautiful being that I had ever come across. Falling in love with Him was a sheer joy for my heart. Crying in the darkness of many nights, seeking His darshan when He was physically here and physically absent, even those moments were one of incredible beauty. He always appeared and will always appear in front of me. His smile is imprinted into my consciousness. Nobody can take this away, no organization can claim ownership of this.

Dear Baba ji, my Beloved, appreciating my limited time in Your presence, full of gratitude, this journey towards being the Formless started with You and it will end with You, however, the journey never ends, it continues. Whatever the outcome of my life, I am grateful that I got to live a few moments with You and had taken breaths in the name of Hardev. For me, you were never born and you can never die, You were, are and always will be fully alive.

You are my journey and destination – Hardev, the Formless Resident of my soul knocking on the door of my mind and I can see my ego moving aside, dissolving away to let Your presence prevail for Eternity.

Post 92 – Inner Peace

Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without. (Buddha)

Hello everyone,

Another week has gone by and here I am writing another blog for you all.

It has been a strange week for me. Let me guide you into why. There are moments in my life when I remain a little silent. Take everything in. Be one with everything. I just watch things instead of interpreting them and the result is phenomenal.

There is sometimes a glimpse of this emptiness, this void or this formless and I wonder what covers this empty space. A few moments seem like hours when I just stare into it and wonder what is there? Is this emptiness staring back at me wondering the same.

Stop! The mind has started to interpret again!

This is when you pull back and realise that you have lost being the witness and the exploration has stopped.

People ask me sometimes about how they can deepen their meditation experience, I say concentrate on actual nothingness. Close your eyes and explore the inner darkness. It seems scary, sounds scary but it is very liberating when you enter the realm where there is no top or bottom. Where you cannot crash nor bump into something. I have to admit that sometimes when you are looking into the inner darkness, there is a possibility that visions enter and memories start to appear. The best solution to get rid of them is to watch them, without judging them, without interpreting them, just watch them fleet by. I used to have some graphic images, some of my past lovers, some of my family, some of my friends and they were disturbing. You need to be mentally strong and if you can pass through that storm then consider the journey has not got long until it comes to a feeling of completion.

This is the journey for every individual. It is not about finding God or enlightenment, just finding your inner self. I can go on and on about how I disagree or agree with religion or likewise, with atheism but these things are personal for me. What is universal is that truth within the centre of your being, if you can be present in your life, then great things will come your way.

Have a little faith and trust in your self. Take the journey into the inner self. Enjoy everything material in this world but find your centre of being that is immaterial. Call it a soul, call it god, call it nature, call it presence, call it energy, it does not matter what name you give it. It is intangible. You cannot put a value on this and this is why I ask you to experience it if you wish to.

I can certainly say that meditation brings a lot of peace and eventually leads to contentment. If you are truly religious then you will know the past spiritual teachers like Buddha, Krishna, Lao Tzu, Christ, Rumi, Nanak, Kabir have all said to ‘know thy self’ and this is what meditation is. The practice is simple, close your eyes, be aware of your breathing and let things be natural. If I tell you what should happen to you after that then I will be forcing my experience onto you. I rather that it becomes a discovery for yourself. If you feel that you cannot carry on, just carry on being aware of the breath. Let it all lead back to the breath if you feel a distraction. But do it with the energy to enjoy it. Don’t be serious about spirituality. That is the biggest mistake to make. Practice meditation with joy!

Don’t let go of the opportunity to know your self! Not one single human being has known Existence (God) without knowing who they are as an individual. If you want inner peace then you have to go through the chaos of the ego. You may have to be rebellious with your ego but that is the only way you are going to transcend it.

What I am saying here does not belong to any religion but is the essence of all religions. That is my truth. What is yours, discover it for your self!

My love to all of you,

Rahul

Quest of life

The quest of life remains open to question,
Why is it asking a question creates hesitations?
Life is a quest for simple answers
A true genius remains a freelancer.

The soul of Yours and mine has to roam,
The quest goes from my home to Your Home.
My people do you feel down and out now,
Is your heart feeling extremely low?

The answer is to meditate on the Lord,
The Lord is your shield and your sword.
Meditate and grab your knowledge,
In adversity I’ll remember you and that’s my pledge.

You have to figure what upsets you,
Most likely the findings will be true.
Where is my life going to end?
Or is death simply a new bend?

I am worried about leaving this world,
But can I face death when it finally calls?
Is death as cold as I imagine it to be?
Or is it simply sitting by a wishing tree?

My questions have no answer today,
For death is my soul’s only way.
What happens after death is no issue,
But God shut me down without a cue.

Having embraced the worst possibility,
Being in Your Presence will be my reality.
The dream is a reality and the reality is a dream,
The Lord and myself will one day become a team.

Lots of love and God bless

Revolution!

Stand up and fight the system,

Corruption is causing mayhem.

Rising taxes and transport fares,

The poor are suffering and that’s not fair.

Raise your thoughts into voices,

You have the freedom to change your choices.

Don’t stop the battle mid-way,

Stop only until you got your own way.

Forget about the polluted hierarchy,

Let them scream ‘It’s anarchy!’

It’s your time to make a change,

Answer me, are we on the same page?

They don’t care and issue us a ticket,

Our taxes filling their massive pockets,

It’s your life that they are destroying,

Your words and actions need to start shining.

Our spirits can put an end to capitalism,

Capitalism has all the free thinkers locked in a prison.

Politicians have ignored our requests,

Don’t fool our actions as a weak quest.

What would happen if we stopped buying?

Will you accept the Government saying ‘We are trying?’

They don’t want to see changes so rapid,

Don’t let our changes have an applause that’s tepid.

Let’s get together and collectively

Try and make our lives more lively.

Let’s get down to the basics of unity

And remove all the unnecessary diversity.

This injustice makes me want to scream,

They are watching us on CCTV stream.

Big Brother you are running out of luck,

Cos’ frankly I’ve stopped giving a fuck!

Bang! Shot down! Get back up!

I’m never gonna stop even if I drop!

This is the people’s political showdown,

Let’s remove their self-imposed crowns.

This fight is for my unborn and gifted children,

I’m not gonna allow their future’s burn.

It is time to create the peaceful resolution,

And create the unity in diversity revolution!

Stay blessed and hang in there people! Respect to the students fighting to save their education. Education should be free. They are making you pay for knowledge so that the nation loses its intellectuals. Those very intellectuals that would fight the system. Have the faith and continue this revolution!

Lots of love and God bless,
