The Struggle continues

grief

3 months ago, a world that was full of colour turned dull, a life full of light turned into darkness in just one moment. All that remained was the observer in me – the watcher was untouched by the sadness and grief that struck my mind and my whole world was shattered. I didn’t know where to look, what to feel, what to say, what to do. I was lost in a world that didn’t make sense anymore. That is what happens when you have surrendered everything to someone – to a Spiritual Master.

After surrendering to Baba ji (my Spiritual Master) I didn’t have to think about anything in my life. I knew that it was in safe hands and still is despise His demise. I know that He has made sure my life will be comfortable and He must have given me all the strength to continue until my body decides that it has run its course on this Earth. However, there was certainly a sense of stability and comfort knowing that Baba ji was alive in His form, you felt safe knowing that if you had an issue then you could see Him. It was His approachability that made Him our everything and today, it is that very approachability that myself and others miss and seek.

My life has taken a turn where I am struggling to cope with this loss. It is no normal bereavement. It is one of excruciating pain where even the Observer, the Witness, the God within us understands the soul’s pain in losing the One who gave it so much joy, happiness and celebration. I always have this image of my soul crying, all alone in the universe, searching frantically for Baba ji. It is lost and doesn’t know what to do. I don’t think losing Baba ji is something I wanted so early on in my life.

How can I explain that God had showed me God? How can I explain that it was God that showed me how to be human? How can I explain to others that God had shown me how to become God Himself? And now this very God, the one we all worship regardless of our different paths had now left His mortal form. Can you imagine the pain of a devotee losing Krishna, Buddha, Kabir, Rumi and other Great Spiritual Masters whilst they were alive? You just don’t want to imagine it but today that imagination that I avoided is now my reality.

The only reason I am living is to write His praises, to write about how loving He was and to give the world now and in the future – the story of Rahul and Hardev. It is not that I want to die tomorrow or even right now. I don’t want to die until it is the right time but I can’t stop expressing the pain that I feel and it is not wrong to feel this pain. I have lost my breath and I am suffocating and drowning and I am only beginning to swim again. It feels like I have just been born again and have to start life all over again. This is not easy when you are left without the Beloved. I wonder if I trip or fall, will I be saved? Will someone pick me up?

As this struggling heart continues on the path towards liberation, I know that we have Satguru (Spiritual Master) in a new form and we have to surrender to Mata ji with the same zeal and enthusiasm that we did for Baba ji. It will have its own challenges but we can see through it. It does not mean we will not grieve for Baba ji, the tears will always flow and we will only be telling others about the legend of Hardev – the sweetest, caring and compassionate Guru. In a world spread with turmoil, suffering, hatred, intolerance and jealousy, we will know of a man that defied those values and became an embodiment of peace, love, humility, tolerance, forgiveness and compassion. We lived and walked alongside this legendary being.

His one smile was always something that we all longed for whenever He was going to visit us, wherever that may be in the world, but I know for sure that Mata ji will give us the same loving smile. She did this for me the day after Baba ji’s funeral. It was something that I needed and I also need that right now. I seek the glimpse of the Satguru to give comfort to the pain that my heart feels for my Beloved. As a devotee, I have full trust in Mata ji and all devotees of Baba ji have to support Her vision.

On the note of forgiveness, we all know that Baba ji had left His mortal form in a car accident. That is exactly what it was – an accident. The quicker that we can accept this, the better it will be for our own advancement. I have only seen this as an accident and have placed no blame on anyone. The point is that I knew Baba ji told us to think with a broad mind. We all say that a leaf cannot move without Satguru’s grace but have some of us just said it to meet our own egoic needs? Satguru does all and we cannot become judges of what happened and who should be guilty or not. I find it incredibly inconsiderate to do so. Baba ji only told us to love and forgive and if we cannot do that for our brothers, our family then what tribute can we ever possibly pay to the Satguru who sacrificed His whole life to put a smile on our faces. Those in the car are also grieving like we are. The quicker we forgive and welcome them in our hearts then we can concentrate on our own grieving process with the right mindset and focus.

Our Beloved Baba ji was overflowing with love for us all and we need to be the same. He wasn’t the best human being for His own praise, far from it. He wanted us all to be like Him – hold the same values and become those very spiritual values. We can never let go of the target He set for us, we have to remain focussed. I miss Him loads and I am struggling but the more I am the observer, the more I allow light to enter my dark world. The more I am in the present, the more I feel His love and presence. It is in the connection, focus and merging with the Formless that we see Baba ji again. Every day, I do meet Baba ji and I receive His love, I touch His feet and receive that warm embrace of His. This can be our way, and I need to surrender my struggle to Satguru Mata ji. I will trip and fall but She will pick me up. I will always miss Baba ji and I will still write about it because we are all sharing this grief collectively, but we have to at the same time, side by side, bring the message of Truth everywhere. And the message will always be in our thoughts and actions. Be aware, observe and be.

Priorities

Dreams are a fleeting shadow, that stays in the back of our reality and we feel content with the way things are.

I want to do a shoutout to a Visionary, an extremely talented poet and it is worth watching this video to your heart’s content. Prince Ea joins forces with Neste with this poem titled ‘Everybody dies, but not everybody lives’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ManC7UO0HeY and let me know what you think about it.

For the past few months, I have been contemplating my place as a writer. A writer that loves to explore aspects of life that not many want to reach and like to reach. To access parts of my mind that I never explored because I was not focussed enough or dedicated enough to discover. When you are in a 9 to 5 job it is hard to think out of the box and then videos like the above appear and you are like ‘WOW’ and you know that this box is breaking and it is breaking everyday. It is getting ready to shatter and my spirit can grow and expand in this vastness known as art. Then I am dragged down to the Earth even though I hadn’t even started flying and my mind tells me that someone has to pay the bills, you are starting a family of your own and all of life’s pressures start crushing those ambitions. The thing is bills, family and anything else do not crush the ambitions, it is just they are easy excuses to support lack of action.

My journey as a writer has started when I was 19 years old and the decade is approaching. Yes, I feel I have developed and found my own voice. I feel that something great is happening in my life as I share more. I want others to know that they are the reason behind everything I write because sharing isn’t great if it is just for yourself. Sharing means that every single thing I write, I am giving a little bit of myself away to you. I want that energy to be with you when you feel down, or you have some sort of creative block or things just aren’t going the way you want it to. That is life and that will happen and you just got to know that it is okay. There is light at the end of the tunnel and it isn’t a train that will run you over, it is the light of your inspired heart that awakens once it knows that you are here in this moment. Your soul is shining and it wants to express the beauty of life. That is what it feels like for me every morning.

In the past 9 years, I have been a believer in God to a non-believer and then a knower, believer and becoming this One energy that people call with many names. You see, that is my evolution and all of those beliefs, no matter how limiting, were right because it is helping me now and what I am right now will be right as I continuously evolve and evolve. This is my choice and that is the beauty of choice in itself. You can pick what will give you a heart and you will be compassionate. You will be focussed yet your vision is expansive. This is the hallmark of a real visionary. You have one message and only one message, yet you will find diverse ways to express it. The choices we make, the decisions we make will shape what we want and we can choose what shape that will be. Either we can shape it with sharp edges so it hurts others or we can give it the shape of hills, things will go up and down but our support will be constant. However, one thing that I always feel is that sometimes if you do not support something, do not be afraid not to. Think of your own humanity and go with that flow because what may look wrong to others right now may be the right thing in the long run. Stick with your gut feeling and it will take you places. Risks aren’t meant to make you feel safe, they are meant to bring you to adventurous and wondrous places. Explore the risks and remember the cause to create a better humanity is the call of the human spirit.

This video has inspired this post and I want others to feel inspired to action too. I have a long way to go as a writer and I want to thank you all for being there for me even when the going was tough.

Rahul

Enlightenment – Time is Now

meditation-enlightenment

Postponement
The whole journey of being enlightened is something that we like to postpone. Let us get a good job first, let the children grow up, let me retire and then I can look at enlightenment. However, if we look at what the Sages said, the message is simple and that is that only this moment matters. Who knows when our life will end?

Why should I strive for enlightenment?
The need for enlightenment is a personal step one should take. It is up to me, up to you if you want to reach the highest state of being a human. Enlightenment has always been the next step for evolution. If we are to evolve then enlightenment is said to be the answer. It may be that we are cynical and we can say that it is all words but not a reality, however, the question is have we even attempted to go towards enlightenment before we just sweep it under the carpet? Have we even taken a single step towards knowing the Truth? The choice is ours to test it and experiment with it to reach a result and conclusion.

Enlightenment is exciting
The one single factor that makes enlightenment exciting and worth pursuing are that you get to see the whole world, the whole universe as One. In a world where people want to divide us in the name of religion, nationality, colour of our skin, our caste or class within society, the hierarchy in the workplace etc. isn’t it better to strive and see everyone and everything with the same non-discriminatory approach? It makes perfect sense to my mind. The mind that has itself created all these concepts, ideas and divisions would want to end its current paradigm for a vast , indefinable and formless paradigm. When labels were meant for recognition, we have instead taken a darker turn and it has taken the form of definitions . Once we have started to define them and keep them in a box then that is all we can think of – the box. It is like a frog in a well, the little he sees of the sky is what he perceives to be the whole universe. Until the water rises to the top and he is able to leave the well can he discover that there are infinite life-forms and therefore his vision is expanded. This is the true aim of having enlightened-thinking.

Fragility of life and time
Life is fragile and it can escape from our hands just like we hold sand in our hands, we watch it slide through with great ease. Life will leave this body with great ease but what remains is our soul. Some may believe or not believe in a soul and again it is just another word to recognise that awareness that has been the same throughout our life, that has watched us grow up yet has remained untouched by all the changes. I call that witness the soul. It is a subtle energy and it is part of the greater formless expanse. Once we know our soul and we realise we are not just this body and mind then we attain a unity with this Formless Energy. We only have this moment to realise it. No doctor will guarantee that you will live tomorrow. Nobody can say this for certain so it is best that the most important task as the Sages say must be done now. Once, we have attained this oneness with God or the Formless then we see the whole universe as our own.

Going beyond Darkness and Light
Enlightenment is all about leaving the darkness and entering into the Light. This does not mean that darkness will not exist. It will and that will be the battle between your ego and realisation. If we are in darkness then the Light will try to enter into our lives in many ways. One way and this is the quicker way is to find someone who is enlightened and receive wisdom or True Knowledge from this person. It is said in many scriptures that by staying in the company of those in the Truth is the quickest way to realise God and be enlightened. You see there is no difference between the darkness and the Light. The only reason we see a difference is because we are not united with either of them. When we are in darkness, we need the Light. When we are in the Light, we want to be in darkness as it looks an easier way to live. Such is our nature towards ignorance. However, once someone has become enlightened they see no difference between the Light and Darkness. They rise above and live a life beyond all descriptions. That is the nature of God – unaffected and unmarked and enlightenment can give us that way of life.

Enlightenment is now!
The journey is ours to take and all I can say is that for me – enlightenment is my number one goal or target. It is the purpose of my life and this is because my Guru (Spiritual Teacher) has given me a gift in which enlightenment can happen in this moment itself. All it requires is the audacity to think beyond my ego. Some say that you need many lives in order to be awakened or to know God but who knows if this is the very life in order for you to achieve it. If we are to take full advantage of being a human being, to reach the highest potential then enlightenment is the only way! Enlightenment is a happening in the now.

Humanity – the root of all virtues

humanity

We all face a certain situation where we feel that we have been treated unfairly or we know of others who have been treated unfairly. We find corrupted leaders who are able to place corruption charges of those that are ‘below’ them or accuse them of crimes, which they themselves commit. Such hypocrisy is there and it is up to us to do something about it.

When you expect someone that you respect breaks your trust, could be a person in your own family, could be a friend or a role model and they turn their back on you then what do you do? If you are treated disrespectfully, is it right to fight back? Is it right to be angry? Is it right to be violent in such situations? What should one in such a situation?

The easiest thing always looks like the most difficult thing to do. The easiest is to forgive the fool. Now you may be thinking how is that possible, especially when you have been wronged but that is the best form of retaliation. On top of that, you keep silent with them and you do whatever is necessary to bring justice. If a person is famous for something, show what they do as an opposite for what they are famous for. Another one is to forgive them openly, and if they don’t respond to that then they surely will look foolish to the intelligent amongst the crowd.

You see a lion only needs to roar once to indicate that the presence is truly there. You don’t have to be a dog that barks at anything and everything – that is a quality for something else. A lion decides when it is best to prey for righteous action and that which does less harm.

I have a friend, a close friend who is in such a situation and cannot speak out. This post is rather vague in the context but what I am trying to say here is that take whatever comes your way but never lose your righteous spirit, your spirit to do good and inspire good. The corrupt never win because truth always prevails. Truth always wins and will be victorious. All it requires is humility, love and compassion. If these are the driving forces for action then you will do the most damage to what is bad and unruly. However, this is not damage in a destructive and evil way but damage in the sense that the world cannot cope with evil for too long. We see that the basic humanity within us all starts speaking and, therefore all good action grows and has the snowball effect.

If you feel that life is drowning all hope, if you feel good isn’t winning for you, if you feel that bad people look ‘holier-than-thou’ but are in fact manipulative and conniving, then do not lose your values in exchange for their vices. Another person’s vice cannot be defeated by your own vices. It is by your virtuous nature, rooted from your humanity that finds ways to let the Truth highlight what is false.

Do not give up. The sun always shines whether it is day and night. In the day, the one Sun lights up the sky but it is the millions of Sun’s that light up the night sky. Truth works faster in darkness because then it is a group working together – and that is why they are called stars!

Post 97 – The Paradigm of Truth

Image

Confidence is something that grows with time. When we look at the situation we are in, we think of many faults and we think of how we do not deserve things, we have an inner hierarchy and we lose out on living in each moment.

For example, we all may believe in a higher being, we can call it God or Truth or a True Master (Satguru) and we always seem to feel smaller than these beings. I find this common in mainly religion and find it seeping in to spirituality. We belittle ourselves instead of looking at that which is higher and then attaining to it. We praise the highest order but we make ourselves at the bottom.

Now, there is a fine line here because one can turn around and say it is humility hence we say we are at the bottom. Humility simply means you see all things as One and Equal and you serve ALL in the same manner. That is humility. Humility isn’t when you put things in an hierarchy. However, the ones who have realised the Truth continue to tell us that we are Truth seeking the Truth and that is the Truth.

So today, what I am trying to say in this blog message is that you can realise your potential, which is God, which is Truth, which is the Satguru. Once you realise it then you are IT.

Confidence is something that builds up when we can be truly humble and be as strong as Truth. We can be as stable as Truth. The way to Truth may be chaos but once you go through all the trials and tribulations, you find silence, bliss and peace!

Attain it! It is Yours.

Call it enlightenment or whatever pleases you, you are all here to have a mystical Truth to lead a spiritual life that defines in words what religion truly is. This path may be for the few but the few can be made up into millions.

Let me put it in another way, Truth is an expression (Mysticism), Truth is a way of life (Spirituality) and Truth is an experience (Religion). You need all of this, so it is best to find your way to religion. Most people who claim to be religious or belong to a religion may not fit in my paradigm here but they now know the way to be religious!

Post 95 – Knowing is the Only Way!

Hi readers!

Hope you are well.

I had a thought, can I call it a thought or shall I say revelation? Hear this out: ‘If you know the Truth then you don’t know. You can only be in knowing of the Truth.’

I probably could say the last sentence with greater clarity but I shall explain this a little now. Whenever, you come to a point and say ‘I know the Truth’ that cannot be the Truth speaking. It can only mean that you have given up knowing or desiring to know more. Instead, you have made the Truth a possession and you cannot possess the Truth. It cannot be grasped nor seen but it creates a great amount of intensity within you. It creates something intimate, where the feelings overflow into something magnificent. So the state of what is called enlightenment is the discovery of knowing. Knowing is everlasting, it is infinite and therefore cannot be grasped by thought. If it is, it creates memory and memory cannot be the Truth. Truth is always new, always fresh and pleasant as it is created from wisdom. Truth is freedom. Memory is distorted and can lead to illusion as it is base is knowledge or just mere words on a paper. Memory is a prison.

Therefore, meditation must be treated as a ground for inner enquiry and discovery. It is easy to say there is a God or there is a soul. But has this very discovery been your own? Never be comfortable with any idea. The Truth is never comfortable because it implies knowing which leads to internal growing. Remember, knowing is a verb, it is action. And to know really means you knew. If you know something today then tomorrow it may be something different. Therefore, this means you ‘knew’, you don’t ‘know’ it. You have to think about this. This might sound a little too intellectual but if you let this settle within you, enquire within you, be part of this whole discussion then something great can be discovered. Can you know God? Can you know the Truth?

I shall keep this post nice and small so you may think about it.

My love to all,

Rahul

Post 75 – Thoughts (Part 8)

Question from Musa Askari:  Why is it easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for rich man to enter the gates of heaven?

“A rich life is one that is living in bliss all the time.”

When we look at Jesus’s statement, where this question originates from, we think he is promoting a poor life and that he is promising something of the future. When in fact, he is saying two impossible things. First of all, we need to take this as a metaphor. For a camel can never pass through an eye of a needle and neither can a rich man (materialistically) guarantee enlightenment for himself.

The most common misconception is that if someone has everything in life then he needs nothing else. If he needs nothing else then he will turn to something bigger. But I disagree with this. I could be poor or rich but a spiritual life is completely different and always will be different. The difference is that we want the poor life and rich life to be different. If you want to live a life that survives then for that person he is rich if he survives. So richness is always a concept of the mind, the concept of the society. It has nothing to do with life. Richness is your perception. A man that only has £100 a week, if he can survive with that then he feels rich, especially if he saves a few pennies. So the concept of rich life in the question’s origination is totally different. Let us say that you need to be spiritually rich and how can you become spiritually rich.

Why is it easier for a camel to pass through an eye of a needle because our thought is narrow and whatever is bigger and broader, we will limit it, bound it, contain it so that it cannot explode into something beautiful. It is easier because we perceive things with such a small-mind that we doubt that a rich life is beautiful. The thing is why is it that a rich man has less chances? The thing is the rich man has everything. Now you can look at this in a society’s way that this is just a little plan to keep the poor, poor and the rich, rich. Very possible. If you read Osho, then he does go in depth about this. I agree that people have condemned the rich in the past because they don’t need to live on hope. Religion strives on hope. But it also needs the rich men for the funding. So the rich man is always poorly condemned. While the poor are much easier to manipulate. Promise them a healthy life (and they can binge on any type of food), a life of luxury (richness and materialistically comfortable), strong intellect (pursuit of knowledge) but that is given with the hope of heaven and the possibility of a hell. Now, the hell is a nice and interesting concept. This is the reason why. Now, the things that religion condemns on Earth, it promotes in heaven. Now, living healthily is important. You control your diet. No prayer is going to keep you healthy. By eating 5 cakes a day instead of fruit and praying doesn’t mean you will stay healthy. By not going to work, by not trying harder but praying will not give you a rich life. Then intellect, first of all, religion does want you to have intellect. Intellect is when you use logic. When you question everything. The importance is not in believing but in knowing. To know, you must question and grab the answer. Therefore, intellect may be promoted but indirectly they are planting the fear of hell in your mind. Now, you do not want to question your guru, your god, your priest because you may suffer in hell. Therefore, intellect is promoted but demoted at the same time. Fear cannot bring you enlightenment. You need intellect to get rid of all the bullshit. Then you can find the truth out for yourself. The real Master will always promote questions, they will always answer the questions and they will support your questioning. A real master and you yourself know that the experience of enlightenment cannot be written or spoken in any language because even enlightenment is not a strong enough word for the experience. However, they say when you have known it then you are silent. However, I disagree. When you have known the Truth, when you have embraced Enlightenment then all you can do is share it. Speak of it. However, you are only bounded to one thing and that is the Truth. You have to say it how it is. This is easy for the rich man but not for the one that believes that a camel can pass through a needle.

Look at this, a camel can pass through the eye of a needle, this is absolutely absurd. But look at the great thing Jesus is saying. Today, humanity is stuck in rituals, superstition, pilgrimages, dogma, recitation of scriptures, blind belief and therefore, they believe in the most absurd things. By eating meat on a tuesday, it is a sin in Hinduism. Now you tell me, what a day has to do with your diet? Why is it interfering? But people believe you shouldn’t because something terrible may happen. The funny thing is that people have not even read it in a book, they are believing those pseudo gurus, who are repeating the garbage from the previous predecessor. They believe a man, possibly dressed in orange, giving false hopes by quoting religious scriptures. You may quote scriptures but what has it got to do with your truth? In fact, nothing is bigger than your own truth. You are your own scripture. However, pseudo gurus carry on promoting the rituals, dogmas, superstition because they know it involves repeat customers. All these things will not and never will give you enlightenment. I can say that it is nothing but wasting time and if I have a limited amount of time, it is best to look within me, carry on with an inner search than do something absurd. So it is easy for man to adopt false beliefs and this is what Jesus is saying. He is looking at the state of the minds in front of him. He is telling the truth. If such people can believe that a camel can pass through the eye of a needle then it is impossible for them to reach enlightenment.

However, Jesus’s quote does say that it easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the gates of heaven. Now, Jesus’s rich and materialistic rich is two different things. Jesus is on about a rich spiritual life, one that is of self-enquiry, one of intuition, one who is detached from attachments, one who is one with themselves, one that travels within, one that attains bliss and harmony. That is a rich man and he will not enter the gates of heaven because wherever that person is, heaven is alongside him. You need to understand this. Heaven is a concept and what Jesus is saying that you can be materialistically rich but you need to be spiritually rich too. You cannot hold on to stupid belief systems. You need to grow out of them. The one who has found out his own truth is the only person that can enter the gates of heaven. It is not even saying that the poor man will reach heaven either. The thing is it is hard for a spiritual person to enter the gates of heaven because wherever he is there is heaven so why would he need to enter any gate?

I conclude that it is easier for a camel to pass through an eye of a needle because we are too comfortable with our beliefs, we know nothing but preach as if we have something profound. The fact is that the camel is our absurd load of dogma, rituals, superstitions that mean nothing but we make them a part of our already strenuous lifestyle. A rich man will never have to enter heaven because heaven is with him all the time. Jesus is not going against the rich man, he is truly going against the people, who have the burden of blind beliefs. Therefore, it is easy to lead life with blind beliefs because you do not question, you do not inquire and society, religion, your priest will treat you with respect and honour but you will not be happy once you realise the absurdity of your beliefs.
